In addition to snow-filled walkways and nights by the fire, another thing winter tends to bring along is a few extra pounds. Living in Northeastern PA, us folks at Golden Pet Supplies know all too well that when the weather outside is frightful, an extra cup of cocoa is so delightful! Unfortunately, it’s more delightful on the lips than the hips, and not just in appearance but in health and flexibility as well. Just like extra weight can keep a good dog down and cause undue stress on joints, our own get-up-and-go is affected by every extra calorie as well, leaving us less likely to get the exercise we need – exercise that is often found in a relaxing walk with our four-legged friends.
There’s no time like the present to kick our couch potato habits to the curb. The sun is shining, sweaters are getting packed away, and in many cases, the dogs are quite literally barking! The best part of turning over a new leaf? Many of the benefits are immediate. It may take some time to feel the waistband get looser and feel a substantial increase in energy, but the rejuvenating feeling of getting the blood flowing and enjoying the fresh air kick in begin with the first walk. To be sure you start out your new routine on the best foot possible, check with your physician to ensure you create a plan that suits your current physical condition, and check with your veterinarian as well to see what kind of limits your dog may have. Pushing too hard from the beginning can set you back quite a bit with recovery time, which not only means unnecessary pain, but also presents an opportunity to fall off the fitness wagon once again before you’ve even really begun.
Once you have the people and pup doctors’ go-ahead, think about your diet and your dog’s diet and look for areas that can use improvement. Spring and summer months present an opportunity to include tons of fresh fruits and vegetables into your meals and as snacks, and you can ensure your furry friend is getting his share as well with a selection from our Organic Dog Treats lineup. If joint problems are an issue for either of you, there are a lot of options available to address the aches before they begin. Again, we advise that you discuss some options for you with your physician, and consider our top-of-the-line Re-Leaf Dog Joint Supplement to keep your pooch’s four legs moving swiftly!

If you have visited GoldenPetSupplies.com, chances are you’re a dog person. And as a dog person, you love to play with your dog both for enjoyment and exercise. We also know that you love to take your dog to the park, or take a refreshing dip in the pool with your pooch. Maybe you also like to take your hound with you while you're on the hunt. Like most great best friends, they’re usually up for just about anything you suggest! Your dog loves to be with you just as much as you love to be with your dog, but for the active dog, arthritis might set in at an earlier age. You can help prevent the onset of arthritis by using a dog arthritis supplement.
They make supplements for dogs?
They do! You can find a number of supplements for your canine friends at GoldenPetSupplies.com. An example of one of these dog supplements is our dog arthritis supplement. These dog arthritis supplements are specifically designed to help keep your dog's hips and joints strong and free of pain.
How exactly do dog arthritis supplements help?
A dog arthritis supplement, like Joint Re-Leaf, actually provides a great deal of benefit for your pooch. Unlike other brands, Joint Re-Leaf combines the standard ingredients of glucosamine and chondroitin but then goes a step further by adding our unique blend of quercetin and omega-3 fish oil, in order to provide the greatest benefit to your dog's joints. When combined, these substances help keep your dog's joints lubricated, which means your dog can be more active and flexible without feeling the pain associated with arthritis. These substances will also help fight inflammation and prevent the further deterioration of the cartilage in and around the joints. In addition, our unique blend of ingredients also benefits other critical systems of the body such as the heart and lungs. Who would have thought that a single dog arthritis supplement could offer so many benefits to your dog's health?
So if you love your four-legged-friend and their sense of adventure, consider using a dog arthritis supplement to help prevent and fight the pain they likely will experience from aging. GoldenPetSupplies.com is here to provide you with the dog arthritis supplement, Joint Re-Leaf, to ensure your dog is healthy and happy at any age. |

Our dogs are our best friends, offering us unconditional love, friendship, and a happy wagging tail when we walk through the front door after a long day. However, as our pups start to get on in years, their playful spirits might be hampered by hip and joint pain. It is an unfortunate reality, but it is one that comes along with the aging process. You want to help prevent pain for your pooch and keep them active, so consider using a dog glucosamine supplement from GoldenPetSupplies.com.
What is Glucosamine?
You're probably wondering, “What exactly is a dog glucosamine supplement?” Glucosamine sounds like a term that you'd expect to hear at the doctor’s office in relation to your own health, but it actually makes for a very healthy and safe addition to your dog’s diet.
A dog glucosamine supplement, like Joint Re-Leaf, brings a number of health benefits for your dogs as they age, with glucosamine being one of the main building blocks of cartilage. When you introduce additional levels of glucosamine to your dog’s diet, it will help to increase the amount of lubrication between the joints. More lubrication means that the joints will move more easily and will be more flexible.
Don't Forget to Start Early
The best way to stop your dog from experiencing pain is to prevent it before it starts. When your dog reaches middle age, he or she may have already begun to feel pain in their joints. By starting your pet on a dog glucosamine supplement, such as Joint Re-Leaf, at an earlier age you will help to delay the wearing down of the joints. Likewise, the pain that comes with the degradation of joints will be kept at bay longer as well. Although our supplements will assist your pup with pain relief, the path to stop pain before it starts is a much more appealing path to walk!
So be sure to visit GoldenPetSupplies.com to find a dog glucosamine supplement that you can use to help keep your dog pain free and active, and greeting you at the door with a smile for many more years to come! |

With the summer upon us, now is the best time of year to get out and start walking with your dog. Not only is it good for them, but it’s good for you! Walking with your dog is great exercise, and it’s also a wonderful way to bond with your pooch. They keep you on track when you feel like resting, and they’re always ready to spend time with you out and about.
Before you hit the dusty trails, there’s a few things you should consider. It doesn’t take a lot of prep time to have an enjoyable walk routine with your dog, but you should heed these five dog walking tips:
Stay On The Leash – Even the best trained dog can get distracted, so make sure to always keep your dog on a leash. A small child or a loose cat can just be too tempting for some dogs and they’ll run off to check things out. In many communities, it’s illegal to walk your dog off a leash, so it’s better to be safe than sorry!
Don’t Forget The Baggies – When nature calls, you need to be ready! Be a good neighbor and always come prepared to clean up after Fido. We like to reuse bags we get from the grocery store or even sandwich baggies after we’ve used them to carry our lunch to work.
Keeping Cool – This is especially important in the summer as dogs are more prone to overheating than humans. Since dog’s don’t sweat, they need to cool themselves by panting, resting in the shade, or taking a drink. Take some water with you and make sure to take a few breaks in a shady spot on hot days.
Have ID – Your dog should never leave the house without his tags on. In the event of your dog breaking free, his tags may help reunite the two of you should you become separated. They’re a clear indicator that he’s up to date on his shots and is someone’s beloved pet, making people less apprehensive to approach your pet so they can help him find his way home.
Physical Readiness – Does your dog have any health problems? If your dog is overweight or has joint pain, check with your vet before taking them on any longer walks. A dog joint supplement like Joint Re-Leaf may also help.
Happy Trails Everyone!

A lot of people have been asking us about the ingredients that make up our Joint Re-Leaf Dog Joint supplement, and with good reason. You want to make sure you’re giving your dog the very best, and you want to understand exactly what it is and how it will help them. We thought it would be helpful if we took some time over the next few weeks to dig in to the most important ingredients in our supplements and tell you what they are and how they work!
This week we wanted to talk about Chondroitin, one of the main ingredients in Joint Re-Leaf. Chondroitin is a molecule that occurs naturally in our bodies, and is a major component of our cartilage. When it starts to run short, cartilage is less able to absorb fluid and is more likely to fall prey to enzymes that will break it down. Many people take it in conjunction with glucosamine to help treat osteoarthritis.
Chondroitin is manufactured from all natural sources, in particular, it can be made from beef cartilage. It can also be synthetically developed. It’s free of side effects, but of course do not go over dosage recommendations. With steady use, chondroitin can help increase lubrication in your dog’s joints, resulting in improved movement and reduced pain.
We’re proud to use only the very best chondroitin in our products!

As your dog gets older you are going to want to make sure that he or she stays as active as possible. Exercise is important for dogs to enjoy a long and healthy life. An active and playful dog might start to develop painful joints or arthritis. It is sad to watch your best friend deteriorate, so why let it happen at all? If you take positive steps now, you can help prevent or relieve the pain your dog may feel when they reach an older age. You can help by giving your dog a natural dog supplement, which you can find at Golden Pet Supplies.
Why Natural?
When supplements are made, they are usually mass produced. This means that a lot of the “healthy” components are actually synthetic and do not contain as much health value as something you find in nature. Likewise, synthetic manufacturing also creates by-products that are harmful to the environment. A natural dog supplement is made from all natural materials that will give your dog the maximum number of health benefits, while helping reduce waste and pollution all at the same time.
What Kind of Health Benefits?
A natural dog supplement from Golden Pet Supplies provides a number of benefits due to the healthy substances found within the unique formula. The first substance is a natural flavonoid called quercetin. Quercetin is naturally found in sources such as the skins of apples, green tea, and black cherries. It works as a powerful anti-inflammatory that can help reduce the pain that is brought on by arthritis. There is also evidence to suggest that quercetin is a powerful tool in preventing cancer in the canine body. Unlike most other manufacturers, Supplements from Golden Pet Supplies also contain Omega 3 Fatty Acids. Omega-3 fatty acids act as an anti-inflammatory, but can also provide vast health benefits to your dog's heart, weight management, brain and eye development, coat, and skin.
Two other substances found in this natural dog supplement are glucosamine and chondroitin. These two minerals form the building blocks of cartridge and work to repair and prevent further deterioration off your dog's joints. They also assist with keeping the joints lubricated.
So why not keep your pooch as healthy as possible, while helping out the planet at the same time? This is possible with a natural dog supplement, which you can find at Golden Pet Supplies. |

If you want to keep you dog playing as if he or she was still a puppy, then you might want to consider using dog joint supplements from Golden Pet Supplies.
What Can They Do For My Dog?
Dog joints supplements typically contain glucosamine and chondroitin. These two minerals are the building blocks of cartilage. Therefore, these two minerals can help repair some joint damage and maintain joint space to help prevent further deterioration. Likewise, chondroitin helps keep joints lubricated so that your dog can maintain flexibility and ease of movement.
Dog joint supplements from Golden Pet Supplies are made specifically to keep not only your dog's joints strong and healthy, but to also maintain the health of the other critical systems of your dog’s body. Dog joint supplements from Golden Pet Supplies contain a number of minerals and substances that are designed specifically for the improvement of joint health and beyond. The first unique ingredient in our brand Joint Re-Leaf™ is quercetin. Quercetin is an all natural flavonoid which is extracted from sources such as the skins of apples, green tea, and black cherries, which also makes it a powerful antioxidant. For the canine body, this flavonoid is capable of acting as an anti-inflammatory and an anti-histamine as well. Therefore Joint Re-Leaf™ is a powerful dog joint supplement that can help reduce and eliminate the pain that arises from arthritis, and also benefit other critical systems of the body. Recent studies have also shown that quercetin can also help with allergies and may even help prevent cancer.
Unlike most of the dog joint supplements on the market, Joint Re-Leaf™ also contains powerful Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids act as an anti-inflammatory, but can also provide vast health benefits to your dog's heart, weight management, brain and eye development, coat, and skin.
So with Joint Re-Leaf™, you can keep your dog playing as if he or she was a puppy for years to come. It’s all possible with the help Joint Re-Leaf™, an all natural dog joint supplement, which is proudly manufactured in the U.S.A, available from Golden Pet Supplies. |

At GoldenPetSupplies.com, we're proud of each and every ingredient that we include in our products, including Joint Re-Leaf, our canine joint supplement. A few people have asked us about the ingredients included in Joint Re-Leaf, specifically, they want to know more about Quercetin.
Quercetin is a flavonoid, which is derived from sources like green tea and apples. Lab studies have shown it to have powerful anti-inflamatory and antioxident properties, and scientists continue to research it to fully understand it's potential. Like any vitamin or mineral, it's best used as as a supplement to an already healthy diet. Since dogs tend to eat less fruits and vegetables than we would, adding Quercetin in to their diet via Joint Re-Leaf is an excellent way to make sure they're getting ample amounts to help them with their joint pain.
On top of all these benefits, early research indicates that Quercetin may reduce the risks of cancer. The American Cancer Society is continuing to research this, but it's an added benefit for dogs who may be pre-disposed to certain types of cancer.
Interested in learning more? Leave us a comment or try a bottle of Joint Re-Leaf yourself and watch your dog get a little more spring in his step. You can see the benefts of Quercetin first hand! |

When buying pet supplies, you may ask yourself, “Why buy Organic?” The answer lies with the materials and the by-products of the manufacturing process. Traditionally manufactured pet products are made with synthetic fibers. The companies that produce such products are polluting the environment greatly. Buying organic supplies will give you the peace of mind knowing that you are providing the very best for your pet. By utilizing organic products you will improve the quality of life and longevity of your pet.
These companies release millions of pounds of toxic chemicals into the air, water, and soil. This alone can cause your pet, and you, to be exposed to these poisons. The release of these chemicals also causes biodegradation in the soil and water, and the dangerous toxins are also carried into the troposphere, the lowest atmospheric layer, where they will remain, causing damage for long periods of time.
As if the deterioration of our environment isn't enough, the products that these companies produce are harmful to our pets as well. In 2007, there was a major recall on pet food when the FDA discovered that the wheat gluten used in the pet food was tainted with melamine. Melamine is a chemical substance used in plastic, and is thought to be used to make the pet food to appear to have more protein. Melamine is extremely harmful to animals because it causes the formation of crystals in the kidneys, which can progress to kidney failure. Many dogs and cats have died from eating food tainted with melamine.
Buying organic supplies will give you the peace of mind knowing that you are providing the very best for your pet. By utilizing organic products you will improve the quality of life and longevity of your pet. Also, many companies that produce organic pet products are environmentally conscious, using all natural materials throughout the manufacturing process. This gives you all the more reason to buy organic supplies for your pet.
Golden Pet Supplies, the manufacturer of Joint Re-Leaf and dog vitamins, and a retailer of all organic and eco-friendly pet supplies, carries a wide variety of products that are safe for your pet and are manufactured in an eco-friendly manner. From dog beds made from recycled soda bottles, to collars and leashes made from bamboo, to organic dog treats, GoldenPetSupplies.com carries the perfect product to fit your needs. |

During the holiday season we are all likely to be doing more cooking in the kitchen preparing for what may seem to be endless get-togethers. While it is great to unite with friends and family, this is also a time of year that many of us begin to put on weight. This is also true for our pets as well. Pets often are the recipients of endless scraps while their owners are preparing for their parties. While giving pets a treat may seem innocent enough, extra weight on a dog causes numerous issues including joint problems, heart disease, and a reduced lifespan. Of course our pets deserve a special Thanksgiving Dinner just like we all do. Just be more cognizant of all the other treats that are being given while preparing for that special meal.
Be sure to never allow your pet to eat any poultry bones without fail. All poultry bones easily splinter and can become lodged inside or perforate a dog’s intestines. Be certain to discard all bones after carving your turkey and place all bones in a tightly sealed bag. Be sure that the dog will not be able to gain access to the bag so that you can prevent a potential disaster from unnecessarily ruining your holiday plans on Thanksgiving day.
So, why should only humans get to have a special dinner on Thanksgiving? The answer is they shouldn’t! Don’t forget to treat your dog to a great meal as well. The recipe below is also a great way to utilize some of the leftovers in your refrigerator that you might become tired of looking at after a while. This is an easy to make recipe for Turkey Patties. Your dog is almost certain to come back “barking for more.”
Yields 2 Turkey Patties
Ingredients
1 Cup shredded roasted turkey meat
¼ cup breadcrumbs
1 large egg, beaten
½ sweet potato-baked, skin discarded and potato coarsely chopped
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons cranberry sauce
1. In a medium bowl, combine the turkey and the breadcrumbs. Mix gently with your hands, and then mix in the egg and sweet potato. Shape into two ½ inch thick patties.
2.In a medium skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add the patties and cook, turning once, until golden-brown, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a paper-towel lined plate to drain. Top with the cranberry sauce and let your canines enjoy! |

Every year, millions of dogs develop some form of arthritis. In fact, 1 out of 5 dogs currently suffer from this ailment. Despite the fact that arthritis, osteoarthritis in particular, effects mostly older and larger dogs, on average, by the time a dog is 5 years old they will need to be treated for some form of arthritis
While human skeletal structures are very different compared to that of dogs, human joints are constructed the same way as dogs. A joint is the meeting of two bones, and at this union there is smooth cartilage that wraps around the end of each bone. The cartilage has no nerve endings and acts like a cushion for the joints, preventing any pain from occurring when they move.
Also like humans, many dogs suffer from osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a condition that occurs when the cartilage that protects the joints deteriorates, leaving the bones exposed and touching. Unlike cartilage, bones do contain nerves and the rubbing of two bones at a joint creates a great deal of pain, stiffness, and difficulty moving.
So why do so many dog suffer from arthritis? Much of it has to do with their diet. The main source of protein for dogs is red meat, which contains a very high amount of uric acid. Uric acid causes a buildup of crystals around the joints, producing pain and becoming a major contributor to many arthritic conditions occurring in dogs.
Osteoarthritis is very painful and can greatly diminish the quality of life of your dog. They become sluggish and inactive, unwilling or unable to move as they once did, often exhibiting their pain with limping, slowness to get up after lying down, and not jumping as far as they once did. When the pain gets really bad, some dogs even lose their appetite, creating even more worrisome health problems.
The current treatment vets often use for dogs with osteoarthritis is to prescribe them NSAIDs. NSAIDs are medications such as Aleve and Motrin, which are suppose to relieve pain. This treatment is not a permanent cure and can do more harm than good. These medications can cause side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite, or yellowing of the gums or eyes. Long term use of these medications can cause damage to your dogs liver or kidneys.
For a natural and safe way to treat and prevent osteoarthritis in your dogs, use Joint Re-Leaf™ |
